Neuriva vs. Prevagen: What’s the Difference

Prevagen is a dietary supplement that aims to help prevent having the first signs of cognitive decline. The “neuriva vs prevagen reddit” is a comparison of two supplements that were created to help with memory and cognitive function. The differences between the two are discussed in detail.

Mild memory loss might serve as a warning sign that it’s time to pay attention to your brain’s health. As people become older, they start to worry about dementia and Alzheimer’s disease.

Schiff Vitamins’ Neuriva is a brain health supplement. It’s intended to help with attention, memory, learning, accuracy, and concentration, which are all important aspects of brain health.

It contains two well-studied Ingredients in Action: Phosphatidylserine with coffee cherry extract. Each capsule contains 100 milligrams of each active ingredient.

Coffee cherry extract is derived from the coffee bean fruit, which contains the coffee beans. Caffeine isn’t present in the extract.

Phosphatidylserine is a phospholipid that is present in cell membranes and is involved in cell communication and cell death.

Neuriva also contains several inIngredients in Action, including Rice bran, microcrystalline cellulose, silicon dioxide, and capsule (hypromellose, carrageenan, titanium dioxide, pectin).. These act as thickeners and anti-caking agents.

Neuriva comes in pill and gummy form. A Plus version with extra B vitamins and a De-Stress formula with added L-theanine and French melon concentrate are also available.

What is Neuriva’s Purpose?

Neuriva’s creators claim that the supplement has been scientifically demonstrated to boost neuron health, memory, and learning capacity by raising levels of brain-derived neurotrophic factor (BDNF).

BDNF is a protein that helps brain cells communicate with one another.

Low levels of BDNF have been linked to poor learning and performance in the brain.

Many randomized control studies have connected coffee cherry extract supplementation to an increase in BDNF.

The normal dosage is 100 mg per day, which is the same as in each Neuriva dose.

Coffee cherry extract enhanced BDNF and improved attention and response speed in memory tests, according to a research published in 2021.

A review of research on phosphatidylserine published in 2015 revealed enough evidence to suggest that it has a favorable effect on cognitive performance.

There is significant controversy about whether phosphatidylserine obtained from plants or animals is the most helpful, but the evidence is still inconclusive. Neuriva includes soy-derived phosphatidylserine.

Breakdown of the Ratings

Pros

  • There are no serious adverse effects.

Cons

  • There isn’t enough proof to back such allegations.
  • Dairy and soy are present.

Prevagen is a brain health supplement designed to improve memory in older adults. It contains two Ingredients in Action: apoaequorin and vitamin D3.

Apoaequorin is a calcium-binding protein identified in a Pacific Ocean type of bioluminescent jellyfish.

Prevagen Regular Strength capsules also contain the following inIngredients in Action: microcrystalline cellulose, vegetable capsule, maltodextrin; and 2% or less of casein peptones, lactose, magnesium stearate, modified corn starch, salt, soy peptones, and sugar.

Prevagen is offered as a chewable or a capsule. There are three types of formulations: standard strength, extra strength, and professional strength, which vary in the quantity of apoaequorin they contain.

What is the Purpose of Prevagen?

Prevagen’s creators say that it works by adjusting the quantity of calcium in brain cells to help relieve indicators of moderate memory loss linked with aging.

Calcium is important for neuron function and brain cell communication.

However, no clinical trials have been conducted to determine if apoaequorin supplementation causes an increase in calcium in brain cells or enhanced brain activity.

Only one research, undertaken by the producers of Prevagen, looked at the safety and effectiveness of apoaequorin.

The trial was tiny and vulnerable to bias, despite the fact that it was well-tolerated and resulted in gains in verbal learning, working memory, and memory recall when compared to a placebo.

Due to a dearth of study, it is hard to determine what quantity of apoaequorin, if any, is advantageous to brain health.

Prevagen contains 50 mcg of vitamin D3 per serving in all formulations, which is more than 3x the RDA for people aged 19–70 years and more than 2x the RDA for those aged 71 and over.

Vitamin D3 deficiency affects a large number of people, and there is evidence that it is connected to dementia and depression.

Prevagen’s quantity may assist certain individuals achieve their daily needs while also supporting mood and cognitive function.

Benefits Comparison

Neuriva promises to boost attention, memory, learning, accuracy, and concentration while supporting healthy brain function.

There is substantial evidence to suggest the Ingredients in Action in Neuriva can increase levels of BDNF and enhance attention, response time, and memory.

Prevagen is also said to help maintain healthy brain function by preventing age-related memory loss.

The supplement claims to result in clearer thinking and a sharper mind. Still, there is limited evidence to support that the Ingredients in Action in Prevagen have any impact on thinking or cognitive sharpness.

Prevagen’s vitamin D content may aid in obtaining enough quantities of this mineral to promote brain function.

Safety and Side Effects Comparison

There are no severe adverse effects connected with any product. Both are thought to be safe for most adults and women who aren’t pregnant or nursing.

Phosphatidylserine, one of the Ingredients in Action in Neuriva, can cause stomach upset or insomnia. This may be remedied by taking the supplement with food in the mornings.

Prevagen’s key component, apoaequorin, has only been tested for safety by the company that makes it.

Although they claim that it was well tolerated in their experiments, the results are subject to bias.

Both supplements contain common allergens. Neuriva contains soy, and Prevagen Dairy and soy are present..

If you are allergic to soy, you should avoid both supplements. Prevagen should be avoided if you have a dairy allergy or intolerance.

Prevagen also includes 50 micrograms of vitamin D in each dosage. The top limit for vitamin D is 100 mcg, which is the highest daily quantity that is unlikely to induce side effects.

Some prescription drugs, such as cholesterol-lowering statins, may interact with vitamin D and make them less effective.

Always with your doctor before beginning a new supplement regimen.

Comparison of Prices

Neuriva is somewhat less expensive than Prevagen, despite the fact that both supplements are on the expensive side and cost more than $1 per serving.

Neuriva and Prevagen are available from a variety of sources, including Amazon and national pharmacy shops.

Depending on which merchant the items are bought from, the actual pricing of each might vary.

A 30-count bottle of Neuriva Original costs $32.99 on the Schiff website, Approximately $1.10 per serving.

A 30-count bottle of the Plus formula costs $49.49, or $1.65 per serving.

Neuriva gummies cost $29.99 for a 25-day supply, or $1.20 per serving.

Neuriva Original and Neuriva Plus formulations are both available for $10.99 and $16.49 for a one-week supply on the Schiff website. It’s a cost-effective method to sample Neuriva before investing on a bigger supply.

A 30-count bottle of Prevagen Regular Strength costs $39.95 on the manufacturer’s website, Approximately $1.33 per serving.

It’s also available in 60-count bottles for $74.95, bringing the per-serving price down to $1.25.

Prevagen versions other than Regular Strength are more expensive.

Extra Strength is $60 for a 30-day supply and $110 for a 60-day supply, equating to $2 and $1.83 per serving.

A 30-day supply of Professional Strength costs $90, or $3 per serving.

Prevagen is also available in a chewable form for the same price as the tablet version.

Choosing Between Neuriva and Prevagen is a difficult task.

Both supplements have been chastised for some claims they’ve made about brain health.

A class-action complaint has been filed against Neuriva, alleging a lack of proof to back up some of the company’s marketing claims about enhancing brain health. The case was settled in April 2021, and reimbursements were issued.

There is enough data to suggest that the coffee cherry extract in Neuriva may boost levels of brain-derived neurotrophic factor, which might help brain cells communicate better.

Phosphatidylserine has also been shown in tests to improve several elements of brain function.

The producers of Prevagen were investigated and charged by the Federal Drug Administration and the Federal Trade Commission for making claims that were illegal for a dietary supplement.

There have been no studies to establish the safety and effectiveness of apoaequorin other than the one undertaken by the developers of Prevagen.

I would probably prefer Neuriva over Prevagen since there isn’t enough proof to demonstrate the advantages of apoaequorin.

If you’re worried about your brain health or memory loss, go to your doctor to rule out anything more serious.

Always with a doctor before taking a new supplement to make sure it’s right for you.

Prevagen vs. Focus Factor: Which Is Better?

Both Prevagen and Focus Factor are supplements that help you stay sharp in your older age by reducing the effects of cognitive decline. They offer similar claims, with one big difference: Focus Factor is backed by science and is cheaper on a per dose basis than Prevagen. Find out which supplement will be best for you to maintain peak performance as life gets more complicated.

The “Prevagen vs. Neuriva vs. Focus Factor” is a question that has been asked many times before, and the answer to this question can vary from person to person. The article will answer which is better for you based on your needs and lifestyle.

Prevagen vs. Focus Factor: Which Is Better?

We may not always pay as much attention to our mental health as we do to our physical health.

However, as we age, brain health becomes even more critical. We work hard to maintain our memory, attention, and general cognitive talents so that we may keep doing the activities we like.

Lifestyle variables such as our food, physical activity level, sleep, stress level, emotions, and how frequently we “exercise” our thoughts all have a role in brain health and function.

Dietary supplements may help maintain your brain healthy by complementing other lifestyle behaviors.

Several supplements are available to help boost brain function and decrease cognitive deficits that might occur as people age.

Prevagen and Factor of Concentration, two popular over-the-counter brain health supplements, are examined objectively in this article.

Prevagen is a brain health vitamin that helps older persons enhance their memory. It’s a nootropic, which means it’s a substance that helps you think better.

It contains two Ingredients in Action: apoaequorin and vitamin D3.

The major active element is apoaequorin. It’s a calcium-binding protein identified in a Pacific Ocean type of bioluminescent jellyfish.

Prevagen is offered as a chewable or a capsule.

Original strength, additional strength, and professional strength versions are available, with varying amounts of apoaequorin.

The original strength version of Prevagen will be the subject of this review.

What is the Purpose of Prevagen?

Prevagen’s creators say that it aids in the treatment of minor memory loss related with aging. This is thought to be accomplished via controlling the quantity of calcium in brain cells.

Calcium is a mineral that is used in the production of neurotransmitters. Calcium-containing neurotransmitters are important for appropriate neuron function, communication, and signaling between brain cells.

However, no human clinical investigations have been conducted to see whether supplementing with apoaequorin achieves similar benefits.

Only one research, undertaken by the producers of Prevagen, looked at the safety and effectiveness of apoaequorin.

The research discovered that it is well tolerated, and that consuming it improved verbal learning, working memory, and memory recall when compared to a placebo. This research, however, was tiny and prone to bias.

A research that is undertaken directly by the manufacturer and is not peer-reviewed raises an instant red flag.

Even if it is a “gold standard” randomized study, this form of research is likely biased and may have distorted outcomes in their favor.

Due to a lack of neutral study, it is hard to determine what quantity of apoaequorin, if any, is advantageous to brain health.

Prevagen contains 50 mcg of vitamin D3 per serving in all formulations, which is more than three times the RDA for people aged 19–70 years and more than two times the RDA for those aged 71 and over.

Vitamin D3 deficiency affects a large number of people, and there is evidence that it is connected to dementia and depression.

Prevagen’s quantity may assist certain individuals achieve their daily needs while also supporting mood and cognitive function.

A single isolated vitamin D pill may, however, offer the same quantity of vitamin D.

What Is Factor of Concentration?

Prevagen-vs-Focus-Factor-Which-Is-Better

Breakdown of the Ratings

  • 3.0 Support for Claims
  • 2.0 in terms of ingredient safety
  • Price-to-Value Ratio: 5.0
  • 2.0 Brand Transparency

Pros

  • When compared to alternatives, it has more vitamins and minerals.
  • Other brain supplements are more pricey.

Cons

  • A daily dosage of 4–8 pills might be difficult to manage.
  • Ingredient research is limited.
  • For certain people, it contains serious allergies and possibly dangerous components.

Factor of Concentration is a brain health supplement designed to improve memory, concentration, and focus. It is also considered a nootropic, a supplement intended to improve cognitive abilities.

It’s made up of a combination of chemicals that are said to help with brain function (the firm calls them neuro-nutrients) as well as critical vitamins and minerals.

Factor of Concentration has a line of products for both adults and children. The adult products are available in Original and Extra Strength versions, which differ slightly in their proprietary blend.

A gummy version is also available for youngsters.

The standard dosage for Factor of Concentration for adults is 4 tablets per day, taken with food.

Individuals may take up to 8 pills per day, depending on other variables such as body weight, exercise, stress, and food.

This review will concentrate on the adult version of Original Strength.

What Does Factor of Concentration Do?

The makers of Factor of Concentration claim that its clinically tested formula improves memory and increases concentration and focus.

Factor of Concentration contains a large number of ingredients, vitamins, and minerals. However, the manufacturer does not pinpoint which ingredients, in particular, are responsible for the Benefits Reported or how.

It does include DHA, choline, and GABA, which may be beneficial to brain function.

The levels in this supplement, however, are most likely far smaller than what has been proved to be helpful in study.

A randomized clinical trial was conducted comparing the effectiveness of Factor of Concentration compared to a placebo in adult men and women.

The company behind Factor of Concentration, called Factor Nutrition Labs, hired an independent research team to conduct this study.

This research, however, was not subjected to peer review or published in a peer-reviewed medical publication. This calls into doubt the study’s credibility.

After 6 weeks, Factor of Concentration was reported to increase memory recall by 44% and was beneficial for focus and concentration.

This was the only study directly conducted on Factor of Concentration. However, this study is small in size and is likely biased.

Benefits Comparison

Both Prevagen and Factor of Concentration claim to support brain health and slow memory loss, but they work in slightly different ways with different ingredients.

Prevagen promotes healthy brain function by preventing age-related memory loss, according to the manufacturer.

According to the claims, it leads to clearer thinking and a sharper intellect. There is, however, no independent evidence to back up these allegations.

The sole conceivable proof of Prevagen’s efficacy comes from a single research undertaken by the company itself.

However, since the research was financed by the manufacturers, the findings should be taken with a grain of salt.

Prevagen’s vitamin D content may aid in obtaining enough quantities of this mineral to promote brain function. A single isolated vitamin D pill, on the other hand, would accomplish the same goal.

Factor of Concentration also claims to support healthy brain function by counteracting age-associated memory loss.

Factor of Concentration contains significantly more ingredients than Prevagen, which increases the risk of potential side effects.

Like Prevagen, Factor of Concentration lacks high-quality research on its effectiveness.

The only randomized clinical study was undertaken by Factor Nutrition Labs, the manufacturer. This work, however, did not go through a peer-review procedure.

While both Prevagen and Factor of Concentration demonstrated benefits in their research, there is a general lack of non-biased research that is not sponsored by the company for both products.

Safety and Side Effects Comparison

In comparing Prevagen and Factor of Concentration, Prevagen wins for safety and has a lower risk of side effects.

Both contain potential allergens such as dairy, soy, and fish. Prevagen Dairy and soy are present., while Factor of Concentration contains soy and fish. If you are allergic to soy, you should avoid both of these products.

Prevagen is typically regarded safe for most people and women who are not presently pregnant or nursing, except from allergies.

It’s crucial to remember, however, that the active component in Prevagen, apoaequorin, has only been evaluated for safety by Prevagen’s manufacturers.

Despite the fact that it was well tolerated in their investigations, the results are subject to bias.

Factor of Concentration has a greater risk for side effects, with some being potentially serious, given its large number of ingredients.

Women of reproductive age, pregnant women, and nursing mothers should avoid using this supplement.

The chemical vinpocetine was linked to negative reproductive outcomes in a 2018 animal research, including miscarriage and impaired embryonic development.

The FDA issued a safety warning about the hazards of vinpocetine to women of reproductive age in 2019.

The chemical DMAE is also associated with certain possible health risks.

Although several of these goods also included ephedra, DMAE-containing products have been linked to negative side effects (a currently banned substance in the US due to its side effects).

Worsening mental state, cardiovascular consequences, and neurological symptoms were among the adverse effects.

In a 2005 clinical research, Bacopa monnieri was reported to produce GI symptoms such as increased stool frequency, stomach discomfort, and nausea.

Inositol is typically safe; however, if you take more than 12 grams per day, you may have moderate side effects such nausea, gas, and diarrhea.

Because Factor of Concentration contains significantly less than 12 grams of this ingredient, side effects are unlikely to occur.

Other rare but possible side effects in taking Factor of Concentration include headaches, skin reactions, mild GI upset, sleep disturbance, increased blood pressure, and cerebral hemorrhage.

If you’re thinking about using one of these supplements, talk to your doctor first to be sure they’re right for you.

If I were to choose either supplement, I would choose Prevagen over Factor of Concentration due to its more positive safety profile.

Comparison of Prices

Factor of Concentration is more affordable than Prevagen per serving if you take the lower dose of 4 tablets per day. However, if you increase the dose to 8 tablets of Factor of Concentration per day, the price is higher than Prevagen.

Both Prevagen and Factor of Concentration are available through their official website, Amazon, and retail locations, including drug stores.

Prevagen is $39.95 for a 30-day supply, or $1.33 per serving. It’s also available for $1.25 per serving for a 60-day bottle, which is significantly cheaper.

Adults may also get Prevagen in a chewable version, which costs the same as the tablet form.

The price per serving rises to $1.83 and $3.00 for Prevagen Extra Strength and Professional Strength, respectively.

In comparison, Factor of Concentration costs 80 cents to $1.60 per serving, depending on if you take 4 or 8 tablets per day.

Factor of Concentration Extra Strength costs $1.32 to $2.64 per serving, depending on if you take 4 or 8 tablets per day.

Depending on which merchant the items are bought from, the actual pricing of each might vary.

Factor of Concentration appears to be cheaper than some other brain health supplements, assuming that you stick to the dosing of 4 tablets per day instead of 8.

Our Pick: Choosing Between Prevagen and Factor of Concentration

Both supplements have been chastised for some claims they’ve made about brain health.

There are also Consumer Report warnings on Factor of Concentration regarding the lack of evidence to support taking it.

If I were to choose one over the other, I would choose Prevagen. This is due to Factor of Concentration’s large number of ingredients and increased risk of mild to severe side effects.

Prevagen is available for purchase on Amazon.

However, since neither supplement formulation has been demonstrated to be beneficial in high-quality research, I would advise prioritizing healthy lifestyle modifications to boost brain health.

As a Registered Dietitian, I would advise implementing good lifestyle practices to promote your brain health and extend the longevity of your memory.

Without the possible negative effects of a pill, you may enhance your brain health by eating a Mediterranean-style diet, receiving regular physical exercise, and obtaining excellent quality sleep.

One form of food, known as the MIND diet, has been demonstrated to be very beneficial in preventing cognitive deterioration.

If you’re worried about your brain health or memory loss, go to your doctor to rule out anything more serious.

Always with a doctor before beginning a new supplement to be sure it’s right for you.

Mind Lab Pro Fatigue Side Effect

Here’s the report written up and formatted for those who can’t view the image:

Mind Lab Pro is making me extremely tired and exhausted. Why ?

I am relatively new to nootropics and Mind Lab Pro is really my first venture into nootropics. I’ve been taking it for the last couple of weeks however I seem to be seeing very strange effects.

My sleep has been optimal all throughout, however ever since I started taking Mind Lab Pro I have been feeling really tired and exhausted all through the day.

I work in a sedentary job in front of a computer all day however my job is quite demanding for the brain. I used to have good focus earlier but since the last couple of weeks, my brain has been wandering all day and I just can’t seem to get anything done. On the couple of days that I don’t take it (to cycle as per recommendations), I feel good and energetic.

I haven’t noticed any other side effects though.

I take the recommended dose of Mind Lab Pro (2 pills each morning with breakfast) so I am not quite sure where things are going wrong.

We put this down to the lack of stimulants in Mind Lab Pro. Although users will take the nootropic to work for long hours, the stimulants won’t be there to support them. The end result is that they are overworked and exhausted after a long session of using Mind Lab Pro.

Ideally, you should be looking for a nootropic stack that contains caffeine, L-Theanine and generally more energy boosting ingredients.

Mind Lab Pro causes Digestive Issues

According to major publication the Courier-Herald, based in Washington, Mind Lab Pro has been reported to have numerous digestive issues such as:

  • Stomach Discomfort

The makers of Mind Lab Pro claim all the ingredients are safe and unlikely to cause discomfort. Still, some people can get reactions from consuming Mind Lab Pro leading to mild stomach discomforts, nausea, vomiting, and a slight headache.

As you can see, it can be a risky choice.

Which ingredients are causing side effects in Mind Lab Pro?

The main issues for Mind Lab Pro are:

a.) The lack of stimulants in this nootropic
b.) The bacopa monnieri

Bacopa Monnieri is one of the prized ingredients in Mind Lab Pro, and something that they tout the benefits for at large on their website.

However, Bacopa Monnieri has been linked to a range of side effects.

According to WebMD, Bacopa Monnieri may cause increased bowel movements,  stomach upset, nausea, dry mouth and fatigue. It may be one of the main causes of the negative effects in Mind Lab Pro.

It’s also worth noting without any stimulants to prop it up, Mind Lab Pro can lean further into causing you fatigue and general tiredness when using it. You may get some form of cognitive boost, but this may fade shortly after with the negative side effects setting in as your performance dips.

Is Mind Lab Pro safe to use?

Mind Lab Pro should be relatively safe to use. The ingredients in this supplement are natural, so they shouldn’t cause any severe side effects. However, there are still plenty of consumer reports out there showing it to cause negative effects.

In our opinion, it isn’t the safest, nor the most effective nootropic stack out there. There are plenty of other options available if you are looking to improve your cognition, without the pesky side effects.

Mind Lab Pro should not be taken if you are naturally fatigued and suffer from digestion issues. Mind Lab Pro’s side effects has the potential to make these effects worse.

You’ll learn why Mind Lab Pro may be addicitive (or not). Which Mind Lab Pro ingredients are addictive, and if Mind Lab Pro is addictive as a side effect.

Below, we’ll look more closely at whether Mind Lab Pro is actually addicitve and what you need to know about it.

Why would Mind Lab Pro be addictive?

Mind Lab Pro could be conceived as addictive because it is a nootropic substance, and to some people that puts it in the same group as many other brain boosters which are considered addictive.

However, these options are more pharmaceutical based like Adderall or Modafinil, which have been known to manifest a mental dependency in some cases.

This is one of the reasons that Mind Lab Pro could be thought to be addictive. Due to it’s relation to other “smart drugs” which have links to causing side effects such as addiction.

This shouldn’t be the case with Mind Lab Pro though, all the ingredients in this supplement are completely natural. It’s unlikely that it will cause addiction, be it physical or mental.

Are Mind Lab Pro’s ingredients addictive?

Mind Lab Pro’s ingredients are not addictive. All the of the ingredients in Mind Lab Pro have are completely natural and have not had any ties to causing addiction.

You should not experience any form of dependency or addiction when using Mind Lab Pro or any of its ingredients.

Is Mind Lab Pro addictive as a side effect?

Mind Lab Pro does not seem to have the side effect of being addictive. You shouldn’t run into any issues with addiction if you are supplementing Mind Lab Pro as a nootropic.

If you are looking for a nootropic that does not cause addiction that you can take on a daily basis, it’s worth looking into the more natural options like Mind Lab Pro.

But should it be Mind Lab Pro? It certainly isn’t our number one choice from the price tag alone. There are numerous other options out there which are more effective than this “critically acclaimed” nootropic that tackle much more areas of cognition to give you that adderall effect without the nasty side effects.

Mind Lab Pro isn’t addictive, but it’s far from the best nootropic out there on the market.

Mind Lab Pro Coupons / Discounts: Is there any way to save money on this expensive nootropic?

The best way to save money on Mind Lab Pro is to wait for their Black Friday sales. However, Mind Lab Pro have had a range of issues with Black Friday in the past.

If you’re familiar with Mind Lab Pro, you’ll know one of their main problems are stock issues. For Black Friday 2020, our team got reports from Mind Lab Pro customers that they hadn’t received their orders in months.

Not to mention, the nootropic contains no stimulants, which opens the door to fatigue issues like we’ve seen in that customer on Reddit.

In conclusion, there only seems to be one form of discount on Mind Lab Pro at the moment, and that involves signing up to their email list.

Aside from that, you’re unlikely to see any other form of discount code or coupon. Mind Lab Pro usually runs a Black Friday Deal however, they are typically unreliable for stock around that time.

There are definitely better options available on the market compared to Mind Lab Pro, options that are much cheaper and better value for money.
